(i) The Holy Mother’s 150th Birth Anniversary (Dec., 2003-Jan., 2005).
 
Dec. 16, 2003 marked the auspicious start of the Holy Mother Sri Sri Sarada Devi's 150th Birth-Anniversary, celebrated all over the world with unprecedented enthusiasm and devotion. To observe this historic event with due devotion and honour, Vidyapith took up a series of year-long programmes (from Jan.,'04 - Jan.,'05), which include:
 

(a) Permanent scholarship for the poor and meritorious girl-students of the villages of this District;
(b) Financial assistance for the renovation of Girls' Primary Schools in the villages;
(c) Financial aid for adult women's general education and vocational training in the villages;
(d) Arrangement of recitations and essay-writing competitions on the Holy Mother in the Girls' Schools of the villages and award of prizes;
(e) Religious Discourses of the eminent scholars;
(f) Arrangement of regular religious classes and of educational excursions for the women - trainees;
(g) Publication of a 'Souvenir' and publication of books on The Holy Mother, etc. The Concluding Ceremony was held in Vidyapith on Jan.05,2005, the auspicious Birth— tithi of the Holy Mother, with due devotion and grandeur.

(ii) Other Celebrations:
Apart from the auspicious Tithi- Utsavas of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda, Vidyapith celebrated the following, with befitting solemnity and devotion :-
a) Saraswati Pi'ja and Kali Puja in images and highly attractive 'Community Fire-Works' along with it;
b) 'Janmastami' and 'Nandotsav' Celebrations with splendid Exhibition, depicting the Life and Heroic Deeds of Sri Krishna;
c) Christmas Eve, Holi Festival and Maha -Sivaratri, etc

Annual Rural Festival: Nara-Narayan Seva : Service to 'God in Man'

20th Annual Rural Festival was celebrated on 06th Feb.,2005, with great hilarity. In the morning, a huge rally, for¬ming a colourful procession with various musical instruments along with the decorated portraits of Sri Sri Thakur, Ma and Swamiji, started from Manbhum Victoria Insti¬tution, Purulia, and treading through Purulia town, reached Vidyapith in the afternoon and paid homage at the feet of Sri Sri Thakur, the Holy Mother and Swamiji, in the Shrine. In the mango-grove of Vidyapith, more than 20,000 people partook of 'Prasad', consisting of Khichuri, Chutney and Sweets, distributed by the monastic members, teachers and students of Vidyapith, along with the volunteers of 'Kalyan'. In the afternoon, a cultural function was held in the premises of Vidyapith.
