Sri Ramakrishna : The Apostle of Peace and Harmony

The advent of Sri Ramakrishna (1836-1886), at the most critical period of 19th Century India, was invoked by a 'Historical Necessity'. The Nation was then at the cross-roads, as a result of the irresistible impact of the Western Civilization, and stood face to face with a severe crisis of 'identity'. Sri Ramakrishna appeared on this scenario as a 'Saviour', not only of our race, but also of the entire strife-ridden world.

Attaining to the summit of spiritual perfection, through the long, arduous practices of all principal religious creeds of the world, including all sects of Hinduism, he proclaimed before the world his 'New Gospel' -'As many faiths, so many paths' ('Jato Mat Tato Path') to realise God Who is eternally One. and 'Service to Man as the veritable manifestation of God' (“Siva-Jnane Jiva-Seva"). Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902), his chief disciple, preached his life-giving 'Message' throughout the world, and Sri Ramaknshna is now universally adored as the 'Prophet of the Harmony of Religions'.
